About Honest Home Cost
A reference site on what home services cost in the United States, written to be read, not to sell you anything.
What this site is for
When a water heater fails or a gutter comes off the fascia, most people search for the price, land on a page with a number, and are asked for their ZIP code and phone number before they can read further. That page is a lead generator: the number is bait, and the visitor's details are sold to contractors. We built Honest Home Cost as the opposite. The price ranges are the product. There is no form, no "get matched with a pro" button, and no company on this site pays to be mentioned.
How it is funded
Display advertising. Ads are served by a third-party network and are marked as ads. Advertisers have no influence on which topics we cover or what the pages say. We do not take affiliate commissions from contractors or lead marketplaces. If that ever changes, this page will say so.
Who is behind it
Honest Home Cost is published by SvG Marketing, a small marketing company in Rümpel near Hamburg, Germany. Why would a German company write about US home service prices? Because the same questions get asked everywhere, the US has by far the most published price data to work from, and the founder has spent years helping tradespeople in Germany explain their prices to customers. Who writes and reviews the pages
Pages are researched and written by the editorial team following the editorial policy. Pages about exterior work, cleaning, gutters, driveways and roofs, are reviewed by Meriton Rexhepi, who has run an exterior cleaning company since 2018 and does that work himself. Where a page is reviewed, the reviewer is named at the top.
We are clear about the limits: nobody on this team is a licensed US plumber or HVAC technician. We work from published price data, manufacturer documentation and building code references, and we say where every number comes from. Read how we get our numbers.
